No disrespect to the wonderful ladies of the 2016 remake, but Harold Ramis, Dan Aykroyd, and Bill Murray will always be the 'Ghostbusters' to me. This was the crew that I grew up with. And while younger audiences can have Kristen Wiig and Melissa McCarthy, I'll stick with these comedy legends, thank you!
To be honest, I'm so devoted to the original film that I'll pay good money to see it in theaters all over again. I'll also pay good money to get all sorts of memorabilia from the movie... which I eventually did. You see, a good friend of mine runs this novelty shop here in New York that sells all sorts of film memorabilia. Most of the time, they're replicas or fakes, but a lot of times, they're real too. And just recently, I got a great deal off of some copies of the movie's poster. Their biggest draw? They're actually signed by the cast themselves.
Man, seeing the autographs of Murray, Aykroyd, and even Sigourney Weaver, Annie Potts, and the late great Harold Ramis gives me chills. When my friend first showed it to me, I wanted to take them home right then and there. But of course, with every businessman, you gotta talk prices.
It was one of the tensest hagglings I've ever encountered. So much so that it really tested out decades-long friendship. He argued above my asking price because the posters were relatively rare and that there won't be anything like them anywhere else. While I argued that I've long been a faithful customer (and friend) of his and will continue to be so, making it enough to release those posters to me at the price that I offered. After much-heated debates, he gave in!
But don't think I won the war. Even though I did acquire these pieces of movie history, I still have to buy some weird knick-knacks that he'd want to let go as part of our deal. Now, my apartment looks like an old vintage toy shop, only a bit creepier.
Still, I don't regret anything. I'm so happy I got these signed posters of the original "Ghostbusters" movie. I already have one framed and hung in my living room! That's how proud I am of them!
Please note: Our inventory is limited as we may have only received a few posters in total. Most of our items are obtained from film premieres, studios, and from autographed hounds such as the one in the story above.
