A Magical Night with My Favorite Witches in New York City

Ballgowns, a lemony cloud, and a fan pit full of signatures at the Wicked: For Good premiere.

I walked into that theater a regular moviegoer, and I walked out changed for good.

Okay, maybe that was a little corny, but watching Wicked: For Good really did change my life. I never smiled, giggled, gushed, and cried like that in the movies before. Thank God the rest of the theater was just as excitable, because I would've been thrown out for making a fuss if I was the only one.

And do you know what else? It was the movie premiere in New York City! The theater where I watched was filled with famous celebrities and popular influencers. I was lucky I wasn't seated near them, because if I was, I would've embarrassed the hell out of myself. I'm also grateful the cast wasn't there.

The Wicked: For Good premiere happened in two theaters at Lincoln Center. One had the cast, the big celebrities, and all the media, while the other had the influencers, premium fans, and more for the general public. As much as I would've wanted to watch the film with Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande in the same room, I'm glad I ended up in the other theater instead.

I met the cast before the screening started, anyway. Unlike the year before with Wicked, I went to the movie premiere venue early to get a great spot at the front of the fan pit. I had easy access to all the stars, so it wasn’t hard to ask for their autographs.

This year, many other people actually had the same idea, so when I got to the Lincoln Center hours before the event, there was already a good number of fans there. I still got to the front row, though, so later that night, I got tons of autographs.

All of the cast looked amazing that night. They even dressed better than they did last year, too. I love that Cynthia and Ariana both went in black ballgowns. They looked so cute all matchy-matchy like that, yet they also gave very different vibes.

Cynthia's leather-and-feathery look, complete with cool futuristic eyewear, gave “fierce, supreme Matrix witch,” perfect for the forward-looking Elphaba. While Ariana gave 1950s glamour with her black-and-pink tulle dress. She was definitely channeling Audrey Hepburn down to the last detail!

Michelle Yeoh wasn't one to be out-dressed herself, either. She came out in a frothy yellow tulle dress, looking like a lemony cloud floating through the New York night. It was the most youthful I've ever seen her, and the best part was that she looked like she was having the time of her life.

The men, of course, were just as dashing as last year. But I have to say, Jeff Goldblum blew everyone else out of the water in the fashion game. I just loved his colorful outfit, especially his dark teal coat. He looked so cool as always!

I was so blown away with how everyone looked that I almost forgot why I came there early—to get autographs. I'm lucky my friend knocked me out of my trance just in the nick of time. Cynthia and Ariana were already making their way to the fans when I came to my senses. So when they got to me, I was able to ask for their autographs.

I'm not sure if they remembered me from the Wicked premiere the year before, but it was enough that they signed my poster anyway. Almost the entire cast did, and I noticed they signed more stuff this year than they did before. Maybe more fans went to this event? I don't know. Either way, it was cool how accommodating they were to us fans.

The Wicked: For Good premiere was the most magical night I had in all my years living in New York City. I doubt I'll ever get to experience something like that again, so I'm glad I got to be there and live that moment.
