The World of Dune in the Big Apple

Lincoln Center, February 2024 — Arrakis came to New York, and one fan came with a poster.

I never realized just how much star power Dune has until I went to the premiere of its sequel. Dune: Part Two premiered at Lincoln Center in New York City, and I kid you not, I've never seen the place so star-studded. The cast had everything, from legends to today's hottest names.

Just look at the names on this list: Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Austin Butler, Florence Pugh, Anya Taylor-Joy. And those are just the young stars. The cast also includes beloved veterans like Josh Brolin, Rebecca Ferguson, Dave Bautista, Stellan Skarsgård, and Javier Bardem, among others.

Amazingly, Denis Villeneuve managed to include all of these stars in the cast, but then again, he's an amazing director. I have no doubt these actors were excited to star in this amazing film, especially with how awesome the first one was. Villeneuve really popped off here.

I'm happy to say that the sequel was even better. The script was more compelling, the acting turned it up a notch, and the effects were out of this world. I'm always so amazed at how these Dune movies can really suck you in. I never wanted to enter a movie world quite like that before.

With that cast, though, how could you not? More than an all-star ensemble, Dune: Part Two boasts such a charismatic cast that there was never any question it would be good. They all have such dazzling star quality on and off the screen that I have no doubt these Dune movies will be as iconic as the original Star Wars trilogy.

I witnessed it firsthand when I saw them on the red carpet at the premiere. One by one, they turned heads, and fans screamed at the top of their lungs. I admit I was one of them because I got caught up in all the frenzy. Though mostly, I was shouting at them to sign my movie poster.

I'm sure you've seen their photos online, but they don't even compare in real life. Take Zendaya, for instance. Always the fashion icon, she grabbed all the attention in a white couture gown with sharp cutouts on the front and gold embellishments. She looked sexy and sophisticated at the same time, in a way that only she can pull off on a red carpet.

Anya Taylor-Joy was just as striking in a black-and-gold gown with a sheer hoop skirt that made her look genuinely otherworldly. She and Zendaya also looked so tall that they were like glamazons from another planet.

As for the men, well, they were all dapper. From Chalamet's effortlessly cool look to Austin Butler's sharp white blazer, they all gave movie-star vibes. They couldn't hold a candle to the women, but they looked good enough on their own.

And as intimidating as they seemed, they were all nice when I asked for their autographs. They signed my poster, and some of them even thanked me when they gave it back. I also got to take a selfie with a few of them, namely Chalamet, Butler, Taylor-Joy, and Brolin. I wanted to get one with Zendaya too, but I was too intimidated.
