If I could listen to one band and one band only, it'd be The Cure! No offense to all the other bands, and their fanbases, but to me, no one comes close to really putting our consistently good music quite like this band. And they're all great and kind guys as well!
How would I know what they're like? Well, I've actually met them! Yep, I've had the privilege of standing close to The Cure a couple of years ago. I was in my mid-20s. I went to a concert of theirs and it was the first time I had ever bought a ticket for myself using my own hard-earned money. Actually, I was so excited to be spending my own money for the first time in my life that I sort of splurged when I was there. I bought as many "Boys Don't Cry" album cover posters that fit my budget. It's my favorite album of theirs of all time.
But when I realized that I really didn't have much use to these multiple posters, I decided to sell them off. But again, who would buy 'The Cure' posters from a nobody when fans can get them at the band's official online store? And so I decided to get them signed. Fortunately, I heard that at times, the band would meet with fans after the concert and sign some of their stuff. There was my chance to earn back all of the money I splurged. But either way, I still spent the money well with the amazing concert I watched that night.
After it ended, I waited patiently for the supposed area where they'd walk by and meet up with fans. My friend and I didn't even finish the encore. Before the band left the stage, we dashed off to the area and were the first ones there. And, almost like clockwork, the band went out and met with us. It was pandemonium from here on in. Us fans kept screaming and shouting and trying to get their autographs. It got so crazy that they never even got to all of the fans that were there. But I was lucky enough to meet them and got their autographs on some of my posters.
I do hope my fellow 'The Cure' fans out there appreciate the hard work and money I spent on these posters. It may sound fun, but hounding for autographs, especially from a rock band, is no easy task!
