What is it with rockstars that make them so intimidating? Even when they're not the larger-than-life, velvet-wearing, big-haired types that mainstream music is mostly filled with, there's still something about them I can't put my finger on. Perhaps, at least for me, it's the prestige they have as great artists of the world.
Either way, when I met Pink Floyd, how I felt. They looked like ordinary people—the no-fuss and no-nonsense type of people—and yet, when I was up close and personal with them I felt I was in the presence of incredible talent. And I was! As a journalist for a well-known music publication, I was privileged enough to get to interview then about them. Though I wasn't the most knowledgeable fan coming in, I came out as their biggest admirer!
They were just so inexplicably charming and down-to-earth. They know the greatness their musical legacy has, but they also understood what they had achieved through the years were bigger than all of them. And they were extremely insightful about music too. I honestly felt so inspired—even though I never had any aspirations to become a musician myself—when they told me how much they love their work. Music sure is lucky to have them, that's for sure!
Want to know just how great these guys are? After the interview, they gave me a gift. It wasn't your ordinary gift. It was a stack of "The Wall" posters with their autographs on it. They figured that their fans in the magazine would like to have em. I sure loved them!
Please note: Our inventory is limited as we may have only received a few posters in total. Most of our items are obtained from film premieres, studios, and from autographed hounds such as the one in the story above.
