Rocky Balboa Returns 16 Years Later

One night at Grauman's, a franchise reborn, and a poster signed by the whole corner.

Rocky is a film franchise I wouldn't mind going on forever. I love all of its movies, but I have to say, I don't think Rocky Balboa (2006) gets enough love. I'm not saying it's best in the bunch, but it's definitely way up there with the first Rocky. It even gave the franchise a major comeback.

I think that part of why I love this movie so much is that it had one of the best casts in any Rocky film. Sylvester Stallone and Burt Young were great as usual, while Milo Ventimiglia and Geraldine Hughes were great additions. So was Antonio Tarver, an actual professional boxer, who I thought added some authenticity to the franchise.

The story and performances were excellent, and their success led to the Creed movies, which were also great. I was there to see all the action unfold at the film's premiere at Grauman's Chinese Theatre in Hollywood. It was such a special night.

Even before I saw the film, I already suspected that it was gonna be a hit. I could feel it from the cast themselves, who all looked so happy that night. I've been to many movie premieres before and since, and I've never seen a cast look more excited and joyful than that one.

Stallone brought his whole family, which was cute to see. Despite how tough and imposing his Rocky is, seeing him with his real-life daughters was a nice contrast. I wonder what they thought of the movie. They may be little girls, but I'm sure they loved seeing daddy in his element that night.

I also saw a heartwarming moment between Talia Shire and Young on the red carpet. They hugged each other in front of the cameras, not caring about looking good for the press. The two had worked together on all five previous Rocky films, all the way back in 1976. Adrian may only appear in this one through flashbacks, but it was great seeing Shire come out to support the film all the same.

Milo Ventimiglia looked good, too. I have to say, I didn't picture him as Rocky Jr. when he was first announced for the movie. Even up until that night, I was still hesitant. There wasn't any hint of him being Stallone's son, apart from the fact that they're both dark-haired white guys.

When I saw the film, however, I finally got it. He ended up giving the best performance out of all the new cast members in the movie. I was convinced, as well as assured, that if they left the franchise in his hands, it'd still be successful. Sadly, this became his last Rocky movie apart from a cameo in Creed II.

Fortunately, I had the foresight to get the cast to sign my Rocky Balboa poster. I didn't care if the movie turned out to be a flop; I wasn't gonna miss my chance to get autographs from actual movie legends. Not to mention an actual light heavyweight world champion in Antonio Tarver.

I went to the theater early so I could get a good spot among the fans. It was a bit hard trying to get their attention from the screaming photographers, but I managed to get the main cast's autographs. From Stallone to Ventimiglia to Tarver, everyone came up to me and signed my poster.

I don't know if they'll ever make a new Rocky or Creed movie, but I'm glad I got to have that moment with the cast. It makes me even prouder of this autographed poster. It's an astounding piece of movie memorabilia signed by actual Hollywood icons.
