One Demon Barber I Had Hoped To Meet

I myself don't want to die by being slit on the throat with a razor but if Johnny Depp's doing it, what a way to go, right? This seasoned actor has played his fair share of cooky characters but the one enjoyed the most was Sweeney Todd in the movie musical adaptation of "Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street."

What could be better than seeing icons such as Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, and Alan Rickman singing in a musical about murder, vengeance, and passion? And all under the direction of the great Tim Burton? Honestly, I'm super happy with how the film turned out. With such an excellent cast, I knew it was going to be a hit. So much so that I planned to get their autographs. However, as I knew the premiere would take place in London, I had to rely on an old friend to get them for me.

That friend of mine shares my hobby of autograph-hounding. He's gotten more autographs from British actors than I can count. And, of course, the premiere of "Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street," would be no exception. After all, the cast is a collection of British greats! In fact, he's gotten their autographs before too. So I'm sure he'd have no problem getting them again. This time around, however, I wanted a piece of his action. So I asked him if he could get multiple movie posters signed so he could give some to me. His price? Autographs of Hollywood celebs that I'd meet here in Hollywood.

I watched from TV how the red carpet premiere went. Most of the big names in the film appeared. Johnny Depp, despite being the lead in a musical, still exuded his signature nonchalant sex appeal which had the girls screaming to high heavens. Helena Bonham-Carter, on the other hand, posed arm-in-arm with her then-partner at the time and director of the movie, Tim Burton. They, as always, looked like a quirky bunch. Alan Rickman, who always scared me as Professor Snape in the "Harry Potter" films, actually looked good and younger that night. While the great Timothy Spall looked dashing as always.

I admit I was jealous of my friend who got to see these incredible icons in person. Most of them I've yet to see here in Hollywood. And with so many people interviewing them and photographers shouting at them to pose for the cameras, I honestly got worried if my friend would actually pull it off. I even tried to see if the TV cameras would catch a glimpse of him, hehe!

Nevertheless, I was patient. And after a few weeks flew by, I finally received a FedEx package from my London buddy. "Here you go, mate!" said his note. And when I opened it, it was a stack of "Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street" movie posters signed by the cast. Incredible! He actually pulled it off. And seeing how hectic the premiere looked on TV, I truly commended him for doing it! A great autograph hound indeed!

From one fan to another, I hope you'd enjoy these autographed posters of what is, in my opinion, one of the best movie musicals of all time! If you haven't seen it, you're missing out on a great film!
