A Different Kind of Graceland

You all know Graceland, right? The 3.8-acre estate in Memphis that the great Elvis Presley once owned? It's become a shrine to the music icon. You'll see many of his devoted fans practically visit it religiously. I personally haven't been there myself but I have gone to someplace similar: the set of Baz Luhrmann's "Elvis" biopic.

As an entertainment journalist, it's my job to interview celebrities. Sometimes, I'll even get to go on the set of their latest movies and TV shows. The most recent one I went to was the set of "Elvis" in Australia. Yep! I went all the way Down Under to see Elvis come back to life. The film's director, Baz Luhrmann, is notorious for only working in Australia. He has worked in Hollywood and other places, sure, but he mostly films in his own home country. And it's here where he flew his leading man, Austin Butler, and the legendary actor, Tom Hanks.

I can't say much about the set but I do want to gush about the actors. Firstly, there was Tom Hanks. When I tell you that I had goosebumps when I met him... whew! I mean, I grew up watching the man on screen. He has starred in a lot of my favorite movies so to see him in person felt like an out-of-body experience. I can't even believe that I pulled it together enough to interview him. He was such a nice guy and an amazing actor!

Autin Butler, on the other hand, pleasantly surprised me. When I heard he was chosen to star as Elvis Presley, I honestly didn't see it at first. Not only are his looks far from that of the iconic superstar, but I didn't feel like he had the charisma for such a role too. But boy was I wrong! When I saw him on set and in costume, it really felt like Elvis Presley had come back to life. It was more than just the way he looked. He had the same swag and confidence as the "King of Rock & Roll." I won't be surprised if he wins an Oscar for this role!

The cast of "Elvis" were great people. They really embodied their real-life counterparts and they looked amazing on-screen. And I have to add: they're so nice too! When I scored a few copies of the movie poster, I asked them to sign it and they said yes. I only asked the three leads—Butler, Hanks, and Olivia DeJonge—and they were happy to oblige. Before the visit, I didn't care that much about the film. But afterward, I prayed that it'd be a success. And based on what I've read so far, it seems like it is!

I'm sure, with the hype around the "Elvis" movie, the autographed posters would be highly in-demand. But for me, they're more than valuable for the people who signed them alone.

Please note: Our inventory is limited as we may have only received a few posters in total. Most of our items are obtained from film premieres, studios, and from autographed hounds such as the one in the story above.
