Only a few people can say they've met legendary gangsters. And proudly, I am one of them. But now, I don't mean actual gangsters who've killed people! I mean those legendary screen actors of the 70s, 80s, and 90s. And the ones I met were some of the kings of them all: Al fucking Pacino and Sean badass Penn!
It was an exclusive event celebrating the anniversary of their 1993 film together "Carlito's Way." My buddy had a few copies of the movie poster with him and so he invited me to the special screening. Boy, did that movie bring back memories! I year for those times in films where men were men, not punks with guns. They were tough, cool, and would smack and motherfucker who came their way! And, as the piece de resistance of the whole thing, out came Al Pacino and Sean Penn to talk about the making of the movie.
Story after story, these two legends shared what it was like working with each other, the great script that they had, and their respective iconic roles. And finally, the best part, a meet-and-greet. Yep, those of us who were lucky to get a ticket had the chance to chat with the stars for a bit. And you know we got them to sign all our posters!
The best part, at least for me, was hearing them say my name. Damn! Michael Corleone and Havey Milk said my name! I was blown away by it! Pacino asked me where I was from, and when I told him that I traveled far to meet him, he gave me a big-ass smile. It was scary as fuck but it was surreal at the same time. Penn, on the other hand, shook my hand and thanked me for coming. I told him what an impact his role as Harvey Milk meant to my gay cousin, and he nodded along.
Now that was a great day! There were my heroes, men I've looked up to on the screen. And to hear them acknowledge me was, I have to admit, fucking awesome!
Please note: Our inventory is limited as we may have only received a few posters in total. Most of our items are obtained from film premieres, studios, and from autographed hounds such as the one in the story above.
