The Stuff of Legends

You never really know the fascinating things you find among someone else's belongings. Though I'm a beginner in collecting movie-related memorabilia, I feel like I don't have those treasured items yet. Rarities that you won't just find anywhere else. Well, that all change when my mom asked me to help clean her place.

I live in my own place now in LA but my mom still lives in San Francisco where I and my sisters grew up. One weekend, when all of us were free, she decided to take advantage of her "mom card" and asked all of her offsprings to help clean her house for her. After all, it was our family home. So without complaint, we did as she told. It was a pretty uneventful day, some reminiscing here and there, some tears shed after remembering our deceased dad, and some much-needed family bonding time. But for me, the most memorable was seeing what my mom had hidden all this time!

Deep in the attic, near my old comic books and my sisters' old Barbie dolls, was a stack of movie posters. Oh, but they weren't no ordinary movie posters! They were for the 1992 classic "Unforgiven," starring Clint Eastwood, Gene Hackman, and Morgan Freeman. A gaggle of legends in cinema, But the best part? All of these posters were signed. All of these legendary, well-respected, and award-winning actors signed all of these posters. It was nothing I've ever seen before! Had I discovered it at an auction during my many memorabilia shopping sprees, they would have sold for thousands of dollars!

I rushed down and asked my mom about it. Apparently, she and my dad were big fans of Clint Eastwood and decided they wanted to meet him at the red carpet premiere of "Unforgiven." To make sure they would never forget about that momentous occasion, they decided to get a few copies of the movie poster and have him sign a couple of them. (Because one wasn't enough, right? At least, that's what my dad thought!). After hours of waiting and screaming with excitement, they finally met the Hollywood legend. My mom remembered just how handsome yet intimidating the actor was, pretty much how you'd expect him to be just by watching him in the movies or on TV.

Though they did get Eastwood to sign all of their copies, my dad (from whom I inherited my love of movies) thought it'd be a shame if they didn't get the other actors to sign the posters too. My mom remembered that he said, "After all, who knows how big these guys will get in the future?" which I thought was weird because most of the actors in this film were already huge at the time! Anyways, my dad was right! The other actors, just like Eastwood, were legends. And I'm so glad they got their autographs too!

Now, I have this treasure in my possessions. I left one copy with my mom because that's all she wanted (just one!). I have one for myself as the piece de resistance of my memorabilia collection. And the others? I'll sell them online to make a quick buck! After all, this stuff of legends is priceless!

Please note: Our inventory is limited as we may have only received a few posters in total. Most of our items are obtained from film premieres, studios, and from autographed hounds such as the one in the story above.
