A Vampire's Beauty Never Fades

Do you know why the lore of vampires continues to fascinate audiences to this day? From the dark caped masters from Transylvania to the sparkling hunks in "Twilight," the concept of blood-sucking beauties is just so exciting. It's equal parts horrific yet equal parts seductive as well. Personally, the story of "Dracula" still trumps them all.

Out of all the depictions of the iconic monster and the adaptations of his story in all sorts of media, the 1992 film, "Bram Stoker 's Dracula' ' is still my absolute favorite. Who wouldn't watch a movie starring such greats as Gary Oldman, Winona Ryder, Keanu Reeves, and even the great Sir Anthony Hopkins? In fact, it's these beautiful actors and actresses that can only tell the story of one such seductive yet evil villain. Every second of the movie had me at the edge of my seat! To this day, I still watch it, especially during Halloween.

Though, I must admit, what's really special about the movie for me was that it was during its premiere that I first hounded for autographs from celebrities. That's right! During the red carpet premiere for the movie, I was able to get this star-studded cast's autographs. Many of which are absolutely priceless today!

I remember it well: the photographs snapping pictures left and right, the stars all trying to pose for the cameras and meet fans, and the energy in Hollywood that night was electrifying. Not to toot my own horn to anything but I eventually got most of the cast members to sign my copies of the movie poster. Especially the big-named leads. I remember Wynona Ryder, who played Mina Harker, looked just as lovely in real life as she did on screen. She didn't need those elaborate costumes and hairdos to look like a delicious feast for one Dracula to thirst over.

And speaking of Dracula, the main man himself, Gary Oldman, was a hoot! He was far from the serious, Academy Award-winning actor he is now. He was beaming with delight, looking so proud of the film. And, of course, after I watched it, I understood why he felt that way. He was incredible in the movie and he really should be proud of himself. From what I remember, he even went as far as to don an ascot with his tux, a sort of nod to Dracula himself (at least, that's what I want to believe).

As far as vampire movies go, "Bram Stoker's Dracula" is still the best for me. And no, it's not just because I got the cast's autographs. This film is the textbook horror flick that filmmakers today should aspire to equal.
