A "Gone Girl" Never Forgotten!

"Cool Girls never get angry; they only smile in a chagrined, loving manner and let their men do whatever they want." When I first heard that now-iconic speech in the theater, it riveted me to my core. I had chills, not because I related to what was being said, but with Rosamund Pike's excellent acting at delivering such lines. No wonder she was nominated for her role in "Gone Girl."

I've personally been a fan of Pike since she appeared in "Pride & Prejudice" back in 2005. She's just so beautiful, so ethereal, and so elegant that not even playing a psycho in "Gone Girl" made her look bad. She inhabited that role like no other and I still believe, to this day, that she should have won the Academy Award. Oh well, at least her monologue remains relevant today. And again, more so than the content, it's how the British actress delivered her lines with such vigor that continues to captivate me until now.

It really would have been awesome had she won the Oscar that night! For my own selfish reasons, if she won, that would make my signed posters with her autograph much more expensive. Yes! I was also there among the fans during the red carpet pre-ceremony event! And yes, I got Rosamund Pike's and the rest of the "Gone Girl" cast's autographs. They were all so nice and friendly and had no qualms signing on multiple posters while they walked the red carpet.

The leading lady in question looked immaculate in her red dress that night. She was, without a doubt, the most beautiful among the 'Best Actress' nominees that year. At least, to me, anyways! Oh, and when she greeted me with her posh British accent, I just melted! In my ears, she was Jane Bennett all over again! As I've mentioned, Pike was pretty generous with her autographs too. Although, as a nominee, photographers and the press were asking for her, she still took the time to sign all of my movie posters. What a woman!

Her leading men, Ben Affleck and Neil Patrick Harris were just as stunning in person too. I've never thought of Affleck as a handsome guy (sorry to his fans but I never joined his bandwagon), but that night... damn! With his beard and well-tailored suit, he looked so good, I almost fell in love! Almost! Because then came Harris, who hosted the night, and boy is he charming! Looks-wise, Affleck wins by a mile, but when it comes to charisma and charm, Harris wins by a landslide! Knowing how Rosamund Pike got to make love to both these men on screen made me idolize her even more!

The last cast member I was able to get an autograph from that night was Tyler Perry. He's such a sweet man and so personable. He was kind and polite and, just like Pike, had no qualms signing multiple posters all at once. It's no wonder he's such a success now. People in Hollywood probably love working with him!

Well, Amy Elliott Dunne may have been a "Gone Girl" but she one I will never forget! And it's all thanks to the excellence that is Rosamund Pike and the rest of the movie's wonderful cast!
