When Two Screen Legends Collided

There are only a few movies that can boast that they got two of the biggest stars of the time to star opposite each other. A great example was "Whatever Happened to Baby Jane" with Bette Davis and Joan Crawford. Another more recent instance was also "Superman vs. Batman: Dawn of Justice" with Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck, But perhaps the one movie that did this, at the height of both their legends, was "Heat" with Al Pacino and Robert De Niro.

Of course, with that, you'd know that every autograph hound in the world will just kill to have both legends sign the poster. Well, I did it! I got these two legends to give their autographs on the movie's poster. How did I do it? Oh, with a little luck and a whole lot of patience.

With Al Pacino, I actually got his when the AFI gave him the Lifetime Achievement Award. Unfortunately, De Niro wasn't there. Though their "rivalry" was never off-screen so I doubt he wasn't there out of spite. Still, getting Pacino's autograph alone was a pretty big deal. I was there with a couple of my friends who helped me get his autograph onto my many copies of the "Heat" movie poster. It was actually quite funny because we caught his attention when we, all five of us, shouted his name in unison. He turned back, gave a big grin, and proceeded to go to us. It was a great moment indeed!

As for De Niro, it took me almost a decade later to get his signature. The best opportunity I finally had was when I attended the red carpet premiere of is 2015 movie, "The Intern," which also starred Anne Hathaway. I even remember the funny look he gave me when I gave him the "Heat" posters for him to sign instead of that of the movie that was premiering. After a chuckle or two, he gave his autograph on all of my copies and went on his way. He was, and always is, a class act!

So now, I'm gearing up for the premiere of "The Irishman," where they will reunite on screen. And it's directed by Martin Scorcese no less! Here's to hoping it won't take me another ten years to get their autographs!

Please note: Our inventory is limited as we may have only received a few posters in total. Most of our items are obtained from film premieres, studios, and from autographed hounds such as the one in the story above.
