When Spider-Man Took Over Los Angeles

The first premiere after lockdown, two Oscar winners in the fan pit, and two Spider-Men who stayed home.

Apart from the Avengers films, I think that Spider-Man: No Way Home had the most star-studded cast in the MCU. Apart from Tom Holland, Zendaya, and Benedict Cumberbatch, who were already in the franchise, the movie also featured Jamie Foxx, J.K. Simmons, and even Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield. Those are some big stars!

It's fitting that they held the movie premiere in Los Angeles. They couldn't have picked a better place to show off A-list celebrities than in Tinsel Town itself. I'd like to think that some of them just woke up, put on their cool outfits, and drove to the Regency Village Theatre for the premiere.

That's exactly what I did since I only live in Downtown LA. It was the first movie premiere I went to after quarantine, and seeing those movie stars after going back into the world again was the best feeling ever. The energy at the event was amazing too. Everyone was excited about the film.

What I was more excited for, however, was seeing the cast and getting their autographs. And everyone looked amazing. I mean, really, you never would've thought the world just went through an entire pandemic. I felt major 2018-2019 energy that night, the era when Infinity War and Endgame ruled the box office and pop culture.

As expected, Zendaya looked the most stunning out of all of them. She wore a plunging Valentino gown beaded to look like spiderwebs, with her hair twisted back into sleek braids, and she looked like an absolute siren. I think this was around the time she was finally emerging as a true fashion icon, and I can't believe I got to witness it up close.

Tom Holland, of course, looked good, but I gotta say, I think Benedict Cumberbatch outshone him. I don't know, him in his suit and shades looked so cool to me. You would've thought he was the star of the show.

The biggest names that night, at least for me, were Jamie Foxx and J.K. Simmons. These are actual Oscar winners, and I'm so grateful that they chose to star in the film. I think they added a lot more prestige to the superhero movie, which is a genre usually looked down upon.

I'm not surprised they ended up being some of my favorite parts of it. And the best part was that they were so nice in person. I got their autographs much more easily compared to when I asked the actual leads to sign my poster.

Sadly, Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield both didn't show up at the premiere. Their cameos were a surprise, so it would've ruined the bit if they suddenly showed up that night. And I get that, I really do, but come on. How cool would it have been to see all three Spider-Man actors together in one place?

I can't complain too much, though, since I still managed to meet a majority of the cast and had them sign my poster, after all. And I also got to meet both Maguire and Garfield later on at different red-carpet events.

Admittedly, I was nervous that I wouldn't be able to do anything like asking for autographs after staying at home for about a year, but I did. It was the best way to get back into the world again.
