Two Heroes, One Movie

Back in the autograph game after the pandemic, just in time for the merc and the mutant.

Deadpool & Wolverine is unlike any other superhero movie ever made. It was more comedic than action-packed; it brought together two iconic characters who don't even belong in the same franchise, and it cast two of today's biggest movie stars. Who wouldn't want to see this crazy movie?

I even went a step further. I went to the movie premiere in New York City and got the cast to sign my movie poster. It was my first time hounding for autographs after the pandemic, so I was determined to get as many as I could. And I'm proud to say that I achieved it.

Ironically enough, the easiest to get were the two leads, Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman. I suppose it's because these two are veteran movie stars; they know how to interact with fans when they step out in public. After posing for photographers, they practically leaped to the fans, saying hi to everyone, shaking hands, hugging people, taking selfies, and of course, signing autographs.

Reynolds got to me first, and I didn't even need to ask him to sign my poster. Almost like he was on autopilot, he got the pen from my hand, signed his autograph, and gave it back to me in seconds. He even gave me a weird look because the poster I brought mostly featured Wolverine. I could only laugh at him sheepishly as he went to the next fan after me.

Jackman also noticed my poster and gave me a high five for it. It was the best moment of the night for me. I had been watching this man as Wolverine for practically all my life, so for him to have done that and signed it blew me away.

The rest of the cast were also great. Matthew Macfadyen was cool and funny, Emma Corrin looked beautiful and was so pleasant, and Morena Baccarin looked just as stunning in real life as she did in both Deadpool movies. I also found Brianna Hildebrand, Rob Delaney, Leslie Uggams, Karan Soni, and Aaron Stanford very nice, especially with how obliging they were when I asked for their autographs.

Overall, it was a great night for me. I hadn't had that much success in autograph-hounding since the early 2010s, especially when I'd go to MCU movie premieres. So it's no surprise I got a lot of autographs at this premiere, too. It's almost as if Disney or Marvel trains its actors to give as much fan service as they can during their promotional events.

The only downside was that some of the cameo stars didn't attend the premiere. Luckily, however, I also went to San Diego Comic-Con later that week, and I got to meet them there. I saw Channing Tatum, Jennifer Garner, and Wesley Snipes and asked for their autographs. It was amazing.

I know the MCU isn't as popular as it once was, but I'm still a fan. I do genuinely still enjoy the movies and TV series, but the stars are what make it a success. They haven't made a wrong move in terms of casting, and I doubt they ever will.
