What I love about autograph hounding is that I get to discover some underrated movies. Flicks that not a lot of people know about but should. Sometimes, I think those are the best films to see. Though it does suck sometimes not having that many people to gush about with.
One such film is "The Warriors," starring Michael Beck, James Remar, Deborah Van Valkenburgh, and Roger Hill. It's about a war between two gangs in New York. Sounds familiar, huh? Well, they don't approach it int he usual way. It's not like "A Bronx Tale" where well-suited Italian mobsters reign supreme. Not is it like "West Side Story" with dancing gangsters until someone gets stabbed. No, "The Warriors," depicts a new York gang war like an actual guerrilla war. Something you'd see out of Southeast Asia or something! The Big Apple almost literally turns into this urban jungle with tribes protecting their own in the most violent and bloodiest ways.
But because I discovered it decades after it was released, and the movie didn't get as much traction as it deserved, I was sure I'd never get to have the cast's autographs on it. Hell, I was even lucky enough to get a hold of a few copies of the movie poster. I found a vintage shop that sold it.
Just when I thought my luck ended there, I also found out, through my network of autograph hounds, that the cast and crew of the movie were reuniting for a special anniversary event of the movie. I went, met most of the cast who were there, and got my autographs. It was a great day!
Take it from me, appreciate any semi-unknown movie you happen to discover. You'll never know how much of a cinematic gem it might be until you watch it!
Please note: Our inventory is limited as we may have only received a few posters in total. Most of our items are obtained from film premieres, studios, and from autographed hounds such as the one in the story above.
