It's not every day I can say I reunited with a major star. However, that's just what happened when I went to a movie premiere. A music superstar saw me, came up to me, and told me he remembered me. It was one of the most surreal moments of my life!
The superstar in question was none other than the Grammy Award-winning singer, Bruno Mars. Yes, kids! He recognized little ol' me at the red carpet! Okay, to provide context, I met him years prior at the red carpet of the Grammy Awards. Back then, I was wearing what was probably my flashiest outfit. I had on a metallic silver jacket and sparkly stilettos, working it as if I was a nominee at the awards ceremony myself. Hey, it was the Grammys, okay? Either go glamorous or go home!
Anyways, my outfit earned me a few points because some of the celebrities actually came up to me and signed my notebook. One of them, of course, was Bruno Mars. "That's a fly outfit!" he said. And to this day, I still tell that story on dates and when I meet new friends.
But now, I have another Bruno Mars story to tell. It was during the red carpet premiere of "Rio 2." I had acquired a few copies of the movie's poster and I wanted the stars to sign at least one. To my complete and utter surprise, most of then signed each copy. It was amazing! Anne Hathaway, Jamie Foxx, Jesse Eisenberg, Leslie Mann—all of them signed all of my posters. And then came Bruno Mars.
At that point, I hadn't remembered that I was wearing the exact same silver metallic jacket I wore at the Grammys a couple of years prior. But then Burno Mars came, saw me, went up to me and said, "Hey! It's the silver fox again!" I nearly fainted when he said that. I swooned, because duh! Who wouldn't? And then I asked for his autographs and, like the other celebs before him, he signed each copy.
I doubt had I worn a different outfit he would have noticed me. But still, I couldn't get over the fact that Bruno Mars recognized me! As if I was an old friend or something. I'll be telling this story to practically every person I will meet from here on in. Even to kids in the future who may no longer even know he was!
