When I heard that there was going to be a new "Peanuts" movie, I got both excited and worried. I got excited because this franchise has always been one of my favorites. But I also got worried about how they'd do it justice. I wasn't too keen on them making it 3-D, so I had, at least, hope that the cast will be good!
Turns out, they were better than I expected! I mean, wow! How could they have gotten kids who sound just like the original? Unless they use some sort of technology? I was just so amazed at how familiar their voices sounded that I already didn't care how slightly awful the 3-D animation was. I simply felt joy knowing, somehow, even it was only in a few ways, they did my favorite cartoon justice.
It was only during season 2 of Netflix's "Stranger Things" did I find out/realize that the show's star, Noah Schnapp, actually voiced Charlie Brown in this movie. When I heard that, I was like, "that's genius!" Just like his role as Will Byers in "Stranger Things," Charlie Brown was always this awkward, self-doubting kid that was plainly always a victim. If I had to cast the movie and Schnapp was still that young, I would have cast him in a heartbeat!
After finding out this information, I went to the red carpet premiere of the series' season 3 (yes, they actually did that) to get his autograph. When he saw what I and my friends wanted him to sign, he chuckled and thought it was a practical joke. We were like, "No man, this was one of your best performances!" He then gave us a weird look that had us all laughing after the event! That was a fun day indeed!
For any season, "The Peanuts Movie" is an absolute gem! Watch for yourself and let it pack on the nostalgia!
