Keanu Reeves is something else. I mean, I know he's unlike any other Hollywood actor out there, but he's so much more! You just can't pinpoint what about him that makes him stand out, he just does. And when you meet him in person, it's even better and more baffling!
I had the privilege of meeting him when his first "John Wick" movie premiered. My cousin Hannah convinced me to go to the red carpet event. It was just for fun, she had to been autograph hounding for years at that point. I was just there to accompany her. Though she was sweet enough to give me a couple of copies of the movie's poster so I can get a few autographs myself.
When the actors started appearing, it was suddenly pandemonium. I've never seen anything like it. It was as if someone turned on the radio and a metal song blasted out. All that shrieking and screaming, I couldn't understand what Hannah found so enjoyable about it. I didn't! Not one bit!
Or so, at least, I thought! It was when I got the first autograph that I felt exhilarated about the whole thing. Out of nowhere, Willem Dafoe came up and signed all of my posters. I didn't even ask him for it, he was just kind enough to know what I was looking for. Dazed and confused, Hannah explained to me that some actors already know what's up. And that signing autographs for them was like being in "autopilot red-carpet mode."
The rest of the cast did it too: John Leguizamo, Ian McShane, Bridget Moynahan, Jason Isaac, etc. But then came John Wick himself—Keanu Reeves—and he was glorious! He had this enigmatic presence about him that just drew people to him. I'd even go so far as to say it was god-like! As he stood in front of me, I suddenly heard myself ask him to sign my posters. He did so in the gentlest way possible. He took all of my posters and one by one, he signed them. It was such a sight to behold!
While I don't hound for autographs anymore (it's just that one time!), I'll never forget that experience. Now I understand why Hannah and her like do it. When you get to be in the presence of one Keanu Reeves, of course you'd do it too!
Please note: Our inventory is limited as we may have only received a few posters in total. Most of our items are obtained from film premieres, studios, and from autographed hounds such as the one in the story above.
