Getting Autographs Through Zoom!

Zoom really is amazing! It's thanks to this incredible app that the world can still go on despite the global pandemic. Personally, I would have never thought that Zoom would one day help me hound for autographs. Damn! Whoever invented this app deserves to be just as rich as Jeff Bezos!

Okay, let me provide some context! I actually work for an entertainment media company and from time to time, we interview actors who are promoting their upcoming movies. Of course, because of the times, we're unable to that in-person nowadays. That's when Zoom came in. Thanks to this amazing app, we were able to talk to a lot of celebrities whose movies premiered in 2020. This also includes the cast of "The King of Staten Island," one of, in my opinion, the most underappreciated comedy films of the past year.

It premiered back in June of 2020 and it was around that time that I was able to interview the stars of the movie. The lead, Pete Davidson, the beautiful Marisa Tomei, the ever-so-funny Maude Apatow, the legendary Bill Burr, and so many others. We talked a lot about so many things, from how they made the film to how they're dealing with the pandemic. It was one of the most fun Zoom calls I've ever had for work and I'm sure not a lot of people would ever get to say that!

They were courteous, surprisingly eloquent, and incredibly accommodating. So much so that I thought, at the risk of going overboard, that I asked them, right as we were about to end the call, if it'd be alright if I asked for their autographs. Y'all should have seen my face when they all, practically collectively, said it'd be okay! My mouth was wide open from the shock that they could have seen my insides! I was so happy that I turned red too, to which Pete Davidson slyly remarked how cute I looked.

After they all agreed they simply told me to get in touch with their individual people to send what I wanted them to sign, which was copies of the movie poster. The entire process took about one-and-a-half months, getting in touch with agents and assistants, disinfecting the posters each time I sent them and got them back, and following all the necessary snail mail protocols during this time. I was floored each time I got the posters back because every single one of them signed all of the copies. Not just one! They were all incredible to see!

I haven't really stated in-touch with the cast of "The King of Staten Island" but this whole digital autograph-hounding scheme made me feel that I've gotten closer to them. Here's to hoping I'd get to do it again with different celebrities soon!

Please note: Our inventory is limited as we may have only received a few posters in total. Most of our items are obtained from film premieres, studios, and from autographed hounds such as the one in the story above.
