A Couple of Badasses From The Past

You don't really get a lot of good duos these days, don't you? Gone are the days of Bonnie & Clude, Cheech & Chong, The Blues Brothers, and more! But there is one that a lot of people probably forgot but shouldn't have: Cates & Hammond in "48 Hours."

Starring the incredible Nick Nolte and the hilarious Eddie Murphy, "48 Hours" tells the story of a hard-hitting cop and a wisecracking street robber teaming up to save the city. Pretty common, right? But it's the chemistry of Nolte's signature tough guy-act with Murphy's funny quips that really got the show goin'! I might even go so far as to say that it was this movie that really set the blueprint for buddy cop comedies that Hollywood has since eaten up over the years.

Now, why am I talking about this film? Because I recently met with both leads in Hollywood! Both Nolte and Murphy seem to be good friends up until now and one of their mutual acquaintances is a good friend of mine. He knows how much I loved "48 Hours" and I've been asking him to let me meet them at least once. After years of annoying him to no end, he finally caved and told me that both stars would be attending his birthday party. So, of course, I got myself ready!

Before you say anything else, yes, I know what I did was probably embarrassing! But if you're gonna devote your life to hounding for autographs, you gotta throw all of your inhibitions out the window. Y'all need thick skin to play this game! Besides, my friend also knew what I had planned and he didn't seem to mind. Even after I did what I did, we're still good buddies. That's the true test of friendship!

In case you haven't summed it up yet, my "sin" in question is that I asked for Eddie Murphy and Nick Nolte's autographs during my friend's birthday party. I know many of y'all are thinking: how embarrassing! Why would I do that and humiliate my friend and on his birthday, no less? Well, first of all, y'all don't even know how tight we are, how long we've known each other, and what we've gone through over the years so back up! Second, my friend knew that the moment he let me meet them, I'd ask for their autographs. Just his saying that I'd get to meet them was already granting me permission.

And you know what? It wasn't embarrassing at all. Granted I wish I could have asked them in better settings and situations but they didn't look annoyed when I approached them. In fact, it's highly likely that my friend already told them about me and they were prepared. I was a bit shocked at how nonchalantly they signed my posters. Did they expect it since they're big stars and this is normal for them? Or did they know beforehand thanks to my friend? My money is on the latter!

In any case, I wish that these autographed posters will let more people know about the underrated comedy gem that is "48 Hours." Watch it if you want to feel good and laugh your brains out!

Please note: Our inventory is limited as we may have only received a few posters in total. Most of our items are obtained from film premieres, studios, and from autographed hounds such as the one in the story above.
