Daring to Ask for Daredevil's Cast (and Stan Lee's) Autographs

By Jay Hick

Perhaps one of my best autograph-hounding stories was when I got the cast of Netflix's Daredevil to sign my posters. I met them at Comic-con and, without a doubt, it was one of the most exciting moments of my life.

It was the New York Comic-Con of 2018. Stars from the other side of the country descended in the Big Apple to a legion of screaming fans and costumed admirers. I have to admit though, I initially didn't plan on getting their autographs. Not because I wasn't a huge fan of the series—I love it!—but because I didn't know Netflix had posters at all. It was only when Melanie, my right-hand woman in my team, suddenly came to my place with a few copies of it and dragged me to Comic-con. It was the best spontaneous autograph-hounding we ever did!

This time, however, we wanted ours to be unique. Sure, the other fans, dressed in cosplay or Marvel memorabilia, would expectedly hound them during the convention. But I and my team didn't want to get in the middle of that. And so, through our many connections (NYC is a small world guys!), we found out one of their stops during their press tour in the Big Apple. Little did the cast know, after one of their interviews, our group would be outside waiting for them. And so the got the shock fo their lives.

Security initially didn't want the cast to approach us, but the ever-so-nice Elden Henson intervened and came toward us. We calmly explained why we were there, showing off our copies of the Netflix poster, and then suddenly, Henson was calling the rest of the cast to come to us. It was an unbelievable moment; one that I've never experienced before in time many years as an autograph-hound. Though there were some who didn't come near us, I and my group were thankful enough to have gotten out autographs!

Now, what about Stan Lee's? Well, as far as the daredevils are concerned, our friend Tom was one of the best. He was simply strolling along somewhere in Brooklyn when he noticed that a familiar-looking old guy was just hanging out. The hordes of suspicious security guards drew his curiosity even further and when he finally got a closer look, the old man was none other than Stan Lee himself. It looked like a sort of meet-and-greet, but as it was in the middle of a weekday, there weren't as many people. So, Tom got in line and got the big man's autographs on all ten copies we had. Later that afternoon, he confessed that it was the best day of his life!

Please note: Our inventory is limited as we may have only received a few posters in total. Most of our items are obtained from film premieres, studios, and from autographed hounds such as the one in the story above.
