When Hollywood Goes Old School!

Don't get me wrong, I like Hollywood the way it is now, but I can't help but yearn for what it was like back in the day. I mean, when I watch old black and white movies, they just have a spark to them that new ones can't hold a candle to. At least, the movie "Gangster Squad" had a commendable try.

Going the old 1940s gangster route, it had the drama and gloss of the old movies I loved watching. And it's all thanks to its amazing cast. When you put  Sean Penn. Josh Brolin, Ryan Gosling, and Nick Nolte all on one screen, you're bound to have something amazing! Out of the many Hollywood actors working now, they're some of the closest that can almost (emphasis on almost!) rival the likes of Humphrey Bogart, James Cagney, Gregory Peck, and more. They exude a star quality that's practically rare nowadays.

I'm not just saying that because I'm a fan of them or of the film. I say it because I've seen them in real life. I was lucky enough to have gone to the red carpet premiere of the film and saw these incredible actors in person. I even got their autographs on a couple of movie posters I brought.

Both leading men, Josh Brolin and Ryan Gosling, had swag. I'd normally find the word obnoxious and all but I can't imagine a more fitting term to describe their aura. They exuded confidence and class yet didn't seem arrogant. You just can't help but fawn over them, at least for me, a female fan, that was the case. When they signed my posters, I examined everything about them, probably to the point that it made them uncomfortable. Meanwhile, the beautiful Emma Stone had a coquettish charm to her, almost akin to Natalie Wood. She was so cute!

But if y'all want to talk about an old-school actor of the highest quality, no one could compare to Sean Penn. On the red carpet, he was the most casually dressed of them all yet he stood out and behaved as if he was the man of the moment. And you know what? He was! The man exuded confidence from head to toe and he didn't need to wear a suit to show off why he's one of Hollywood's finest! I'm so glad I got his autograph that night!

I wish Hollywood made more movies like "Gangster Squad." Moving forward is good and all but going back to their roots would be great from time to time! We all still need that fantasy, especially in these trying times!

Please note: Our inventory is limited as we may have only received a few posters in total. Most of our items are obtained from film premieres, studios, and from autographed hounds such as the one in the story above.
