Ain't this global pandemic a bitch? Thanks to this shitty situation we're now all in, I had to take a pause on my passion for hounding for autographs. It was what filled my days with happiness back when we were allowed to go out. And when red carpet events were in abundance. However, thanks to the power of the internet, I've learned to troll it!
Speaking of trolls, how I was able to "troll" this goddamn pandemic has something to do with the 2020 film, "Trolls World Tour." Starring Justin Timberlake Anna Kendrick, and more, it's the continuation of the DreamWorks film franchise. The good news was it premiered just as the pandemic started and countries were going on lockdown. The bad news was, because of this, there was never really a proper world premiere that happened here in the US. So in short, I almost wasn't able to get the cast's autographs for my copies of the movie poster.
I say almost because yours truly had a few tricks up his sleeve! Thanks to years of my autograph-hounding, I've built up quite the network of fellow hounds that are as passionate as I am. And when DreamWorks decided to set up a press conference and photocall to promote the movie in Berlin, Germany, I got my accomplices on stand-by. A friend of mine who also used to live in Hollywood moved there a couple of years ago. It's he who I rely on when movie premieres happen in Europe. Thank God for the EU's open borders, right?
So, back to the story, I and my friend were determined to get our copies of the "Trolls World Tour" movie poster signed by the two lead stars, Justin Timberlake and Anna Kendrick. As for the rest of the cast? I planned on asking them privately on social media. Truth be told, we're not exactly huge fans of the film franchise. We don't even have kids of our own yet to take them to watch this movie. This was all just for the sake of our pride as autograph-hounds and to satisfy our need for the adrenaline rush of asking for celebrities' autographs. It really is exhilarating, I promise!
Listening to my friend tell me all about how he met Timberlake and Kendrick in person in Berlin reminded me of that excitement! He recounted how surprised he was at how Kendrick really was such a small person. She does look petite on-screen already, but in real life, she seems a lot smaller. Timberlake, on the other hand, looked a bit worn-out. Still handsome, my friend insisted, but he clearly didn't look his best then. My friend then told me how awesome the stars were at interacting with fans. No wonder he was able to easily get them to sign the posters. All of them, mind you!
When I finally got them back, it wa my turn to complete the "mission." I spent a couple of months, most of spring and early summer of 2020, asking the rest of the cast to sign my posters. Some of them, like Anthony Ramos and James Corden, were extremely nice and signed them right away. While others—I won't name names!—took a bit more to convince them to do it. Either way, I got most of the cast autographs on them. And just like Timberlake and Kendrick, they didn't sign just one poster. They signed almost all of them!
Even though the pandemic blocks us from interacting with one another, I was still able to hound for autographs nonetheless. Now that's some excellent trolling if I do say so myself!
Please note: Our inventory is limited as we may have only received a few posters in total. Most of our items are obtained from film premieres, studios, and from autographed hounds such as the one in the story above.
