Ever since Gossip Girl, I've been a huge fan of Leighton Meester. She may not have had the best acting career out there, but she's a star to me! I really miss her on my screen so when I hear that she'd be starring in a new Netflix flick, "The Weekend Away," I was already signed up!
As expected, the brunette beauty was amazing in it! Though it's far from her iconic 'Blair Waldorf,' she was still entertaining to watch from beginning to end. The movie reminded me of why I fell in love with her in the first place. Beyond her angelic looks lies a strong woman with acting chops worth giving an award. I don't know what's up with Hollywood not seeing her awesome talent post-Gossip Girl! This girl has everything one needs to be a star. Show business has to keep up!
Anyway, after gushing about the movie on an online forum, a fellow Leighton Meester fan sent me a few copies of the movie poster. As I expected, it looked even more amazing in person. With her hair blowing in her face and her stern expression looking all sexy, I just knew that what was missing now was her autograph. Fortunately, we both live in LA so I always had a good chance of bumping into her. In fact, I've already seen her a couple of times before. I just didn't approach her out of courtesy but now, I was ready to risk it all just to get her autograph.
Like clockwork, I spotted her going to a coffee shop that I know she frequented. Luckily, the place wasn't all that crowded so she likely let her guard down and didn't expect fans to approach her. And while this made me even more hesitant to get near, it also made me feel more comfortable with the fact that if she turned me down, there weren't that many people to witness my humiliation.
After a few minutes of ordering her coffee at the counter, I went in! I approached her gently, politely greeted her, told her how much of a fan I was, and asked her to sign my posters. I was fully expecting her to go all Blair Waldorf on me but to my complete surprise, she was smiling! I heard her say Aww, I'd love to" before I completely blacked out. It was likely the shock of my favorite actress agreeing to give me her autograph that knocked me out. And when I came to—at least, when my conscience returned—she was already gone. But my hands were filled with posters with her autograph on them.
To say that I was elated is an understatement! I was completely and utterly floored! If not for her autograph, I still couldn't believe it! But it's true! She signed my movie posters and now, one of them is proudly hanging on my living room wall! Life sure is funny sometimes.
