Getting To See Movie Magic Firsthand

Nowadays, "The Godfather II'' is considered one of the greatest cinematic masterpieces of all time. It was awarded a ton of Oscars, produced unforgettable movie quotes, and even President Barack Obama considered it his favorite film of all time. I'm sure he's not the only one! I myself enjoyed the movie and I already loved it even before it premiered in 1974!

How, you ask? Because I knew part of the crew personally. Not only that, but he also invited me to be one of the extras in the movie too! It was my only shot at fifteen minutes of fame and I barely appeared onscreen. Oh well! Not everyone can say that they were an extra in one of the greatest movies of all time! And there are even fewer people who can say that they've personally met the legendary cast of this extraordinary film!

Thanks to my buddy, I had the privilege to meet many members of "The Godfather II" cast. I met Al Pacino, Diane Keaton, Robert De Niro, John Cazale, Robert Duvall, Lee Strasberg, Bruno Kirby Jr., Richard Bright, and more. I shook hands with them, told them how big of a fan I was, and got to see them act right in front of me. It was extraordinary! If you thought the movie moments were intense on-screen, seeing it in person is something else. I admit I wasn't the biggest fan of the first "Godfather" movie (it was good, but it wasn't my cup of tea), but the first sequel? It's the best!

And I'm not just saying that because I'm in it! Beyond all the hype and chatter behind this award-winning film, I saw firsthand how amazing the actors were, how hard the crew worked, and how much of a genius Francis Ford-Coppola is. He wasn't the nicest director to work with, that's for sure, but every move he made turned into gold. Even before the magic of editing and effects churned out the iconic cinematic masterpiece, I was already aware, as a mere extra, how outstanding the film will turn out to be.

Since I was lucky enough to have scored a spot as an extra in such a movie, I never got paid for my work. I did however receive a couple of posters signed by the cast and crew themselves. My friend gave it to me as a sort of compensation but what was so funny about it is that, knowing the people who signed these posters, these are probably worth a whole lot more than an extra's salary. I'm not even sure if my buddy ever realized that but we did grow up together and we're more like brothers to each other. If he did know how much all these autographs were worth, him still giving these to me proved just how much I mean to him.

Unfortunately, my friend passed away earlier this year. As a parting gift, I’m sharing these amazing autographed “The Godfather II” posters with the rest of the world. It’s as much a part of his legacy as Francis Ford-Coppola’s and I’m happy that many fans will cherish these just as much as he and I did.

Please note: Our inventory is limited as we may have only received a few posters in total. Most of our items are obtained from film premieres, studios, and from autographed hounds such as the one in the story above.
