It always surprises me how star-studded some animated films actually are. There are some that, within their voice casts, contain actors and artists that never in a million years would I have ever associated an animated film with. But such films exist! And in fact, there's a highly underrated one that's a must-see: "Antz."Â
Now, who voiced the characters in Antz that had gotten me all riled up? Oh, just the likes of Woody Allen, Anne Bancroft, Danny Glover, and Gene Hackman! These are big—and by big, I mean BIG!—names in Hollywood. Just the thought of them voicing animated characters for a kid's movie already blew my mind. What more when I found out that they were all featured in the same cast!Â
Because of the success of Pixar's "A Bug's Life," which also had ants as its main characters, this underrated gem of a movie remains relatively unknown. And with such a cast, that's just sad!Â
You may be wondering how I found about this movie. Did I just randomly Google about this obscure animated film about ants when I was bored? Not quite! Actually, my older cousin is also an autograph hound. He shared with me a few copies of the movie's poster with some signatures on them. When I saw the names of the autographs on the posters, I was flabbergasted. I've heard of this film before, but I never knew the Hollywood heavyweights that were behind the voices!Â
Furthermore. my cousin also shared that he wasn't able to get all of the cast's autographs on it. At first, I didn't care since those who did were already huge stars. But when I researched the rest of the cast, I realized what he meant. Unfortunately, Sylvester Stallone, Sharon Stone, and even JLo weren't able to sign my cousin's posters.Â
Still, with Woody Allen, Anne Bancroft, and Danny Glover's autographs, arguably more legendary than the other three, I don't think you'd care about that. I know I didn't!Â
