A Bidding War I'm So Blessed To Have Won!

I don't usually count my blessings. I just know that I'm a blessed man blessed with a blissful life. I'm happy with what I have and who I am. I'm extremely comfortable with my present situation and wouldn't change that for the world. Especially now that I acquired something really special.

Just a year ago, at a nearby luxury film memorabilia shop, I won a bidding war that got me perhaps my most prized material possessions. Since I was in my teens, I've collected signed memorabilia of old and new Hollywood. I don't go autograph hounding—I find it a bit exhausting. I do, however, go to all sorts of sales, auctions, and even flea markets to find the best movie-based memorabilia I could find. And the older the pieces get, the more valuable they and the more I want them!

With this latest auction, one of the products in question was a collection of authentic "Gone with the Wind" movie posters. And the best part was each of them was signed by the Hollywood legends that made up the Academy award-winning cast. Vivien Leigh—who won the Oscar for Best Actress that year for her lead role—signed them. Hattie McDaniel—the first African-American actress to ever win an Oscar—signed them. The iconic Clark Gable signed them. And even the (as of now) living legend Olivia de Havilland sign them as well! With all these astounding autographs I just had to have them!

But I had stiff competition that day. I wasn't the only one with an open wallet ready to spend practically every cent I had for these "Gone with the Wind" posters. There was another gentleman, as sophisticated as he was, who also wanted them. And so our bidding war began. As we raised up the stakes, we could feel each other getting more and more nervous that we'd reach out ceiling price. In fact, I was already thinking about what stuff in my house I could sell just to pay for those posters. And I'm sure he was thinking the same thing as well.

After about half an hour of intense bidding, I won the posters. I got so relieved that I actually heaved a huge sigh of relief at the end of it. Even though I had to sell a state-of-the-art toaster just so I could pay the credit for these posters, I didn't care. These were relics of the most glorious period in Hollywood. Every cent truly was worth it.

As a sign of respect, I gave one of the copies to my rival, who really did put up a great fight. I had a few framed and displayed at home and hid in my closet. And the others I share with the world through here. Such treasures do not deserve to be hidden!

Please note: Our inventory is limited as we may have only received a few posters in total. Most of our items are obtained from film premieres, studios, and from autographed hounds such as the one in the story above.
