Mortal Kombat is the best video game franchise out there! To This day, I still play it whenever I have the time. And though their movies aren't exactly the best, I never fail to watch each and every one. I even go out of my way to get the cast's autographs too!
Well, to be fair, for the 2021 Mortal Kombat film reboot, I wasn't the one who got their autographs. Because of Covid, I wasn't able to go to the movie premiere since it was held in Sydney, Australia. All I had were my fellow fanboys and it's a good thing that they, too, have great connections. One of my buddies who works in Hollywood got the cast to sign my posters for me. He was involved with filming—though he never told me how, exactly—so he had access to the cast.
I personally don't even know most of the cast. They weren't Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise, Nicole Kidman, and the like. Instead, they were Lewis Tan, Jessica McNamee, Josh Lawson, Tadanobu Asano, Ng Chin Han, and Hiroyuki Sanada, among many others. These were largely unknown names, perhaps up-and-comers in the biz, and "Mortal Kombat" was probably their big break. I did, however, appreciate that there are mostly Asian actors. Hooray for correct ethnic representation!
Anyway, back to my friend. To be honest, I wasn't sure if he was telling the truth. He's been a pretty trustworthy friend most of the time but as a fellow Mortal Kombat, he can get pretty exaggerated (especially with his skills in the game! LOL). Still, I had nothing to lose, so I told him I'd even pay him if he can score me autographed posters of the movie. It was sort of like a bet and I gave him a deadline. If he couldn't give me signed posters by that time, he'd return my money with interest. Not a bad deal, right?
Well, you can probably already tell who won the bet! To my complete surprise, my friend sent a package a few weeks before the deadline date. And what was inside? The autographed posters, of course! There wasn't just one either! There were a few copies of the movie poster and they were all signed. I was blown away, not gonna lie! An attached note even came with the package. It said, "Thanks for the money bro!" Argh! He got me! LOL!
The posters are pretty cool and when I finally watched the film, I admit that I enjoyed it a lot as well. This whole experience reminded me just how awesome Mortal Kombat really is! So if you'd excuse me, I'd play a game of it right now!
Please note: Our inventory is limited as we may have only received a few posters in total. Most of our items are obtained from film premieres, studios, and from autographed hounds such as the one in the story above.
