Attending the red carpet premiere of "Shrek 2" will always be one of my proudest moments as an autograph-hound. That was when I met a whole host of cinematic legends all in one place! The principal cast themselves were impressive: Mike Myers, Cameron Diaz, and Eddie Murphy. But John Cleese and Dame Julie Andrews? Absolute legends!
I remember that I and my team were just flabergasted at the sheer about of star power that descended right in front of us. Cameron Diaz, for instance, looked like a supermodel. Why she'd ever do animated films (where her good looks can't be put to good use), I'll never understand. I just remember that when she stood right in front of me, I was practically face-to-face with her best "assets." Luckily, she still signed my posters even though she might have felt offended that I stared. Eddie Murphy, on the other hand, just has this megawatt smile. And knowing the humor behind that smile, it just further proved to me just how much a star he really is.
The best part, I have to admit, was meeting Julie Andrews. Mary Poppins and Maria von Trapp herself. Again, why this legend actually agreed to star in such a film baffled me. But then again, I didn't care. At least I got to finally meet her. At last, the woman that I loved since I was a child, I got to see in person. And let me tell, she was just as sophisticated and humble as she is on screen. It was as if I saw my own grandmother on the red carpet in front of me. Heck, I wished she was!
Though I'm not a huge fan of "Shrek 2," I would like to thank the cast and crew of it. If not for them, I wouldn't have met some of these amazing stars up close!
