My Sister's Best Gift To Me

No matter how you view them, siblings really are blessings! Sure, they might annoy you from time to time. In fact, for many years, my brothers and sisters were the banes of my existence. But in the end, they're there for me and I'm here for them. Especially my sister Maggie.

With only two years apart from each other, Maggie and I were always the closest siblings in the family. With over seven brothers and sisters, Maggie was my first best friend. And that's pretty rare for a guy. But Maggie is, what many would say, a "cool chick." She's not a girly girl, that's my sister Layla. Maggie, on the other hand, is a tomboy. She's into sports, namely basketball and baseball, and was the most adventurous out of all of us. She'd often be the first to try something new, such as jumping off a cliff and into the ocean. And oftentimes, it's me following right after her.

But there was a time when we didn't speak. For many months, I didn't even regard her as my sister. Intense, right? But how would you feel if you found out that she was still close friends with my ex? The girl who broke my heart! and you know how she broke my heart? Not only did I catch her cheating on me during Valentine's day. I also found out that the guy she cheated on me with got the sports scholarship that I worked extra hard for. Not only that, they became the biggest couple on campus during college. That wretch had the gall to flaunt him in front of me and the entire school, knowing full well that they're relationship started while we were still going out.

And after all that, my sister, who went tot he same college as me, was still friends with her. I got so mad at her that for many months, I didn't even acknowledge her existence. It pissed my parents off, but I wasn't going to be the one to exert the effort to fix our relationship. She had to do that. And boy, did she! One night, when things were sort of cooling off between us, but I still wasn't talking to her at that point, she went to a concert. It wasn't just any concert, it was the Red Hot Chili Peppers!

The Red hot Chili Peppers were my and Maggie's favorite band. It's one of many things we share as brother and sister.  Unfortunately, I had an important competition coming up at the time they held a concert in our town so I wasn't able to go. I was too busy training for it. But Maggie got tickets and she went with her friends. By this time, she was no longer talking to my ex. Before leaving, she promised me that she'll get the band's autograph for me as one final peace offering. the thought excited me, of course, but I'll only believe it when I see it.

That night, I and Maggie got home around the same time. She was a bit tipsy cause her friends brought some alcohol to the concert. I was just about to open the front door when I hear someone scream at me, "Yo! Big bro! I did it!" It was Maggie, twittering about holding up a poster of the Red Hot Chili Peppers with their signature on it! I was so flabbergasted! She actually did it! "In fact, I did it many times!" she then exclaimed. Maggie opened her backpack to reveal copies of the same poster that were all signed as well!

"Now do you forgive me?" she asked. Holding back tears in my eyes, I said, "Yeah, whatever!" We both giggled then I helped her through the door and into her room. I then got my posters and went to mine.
