I gotta say, when they announced the new Batman movie, I was a bit apprehensive. It's just that the Christopher Nolan movies that starred Christian Bale were amazing. I find them to be the best superhero movies ever made, even more so than the overhyped MCU flicks. But you know what? This new Batman ain't half bad!
I do admit that I am a little biased considering that I got a chance to go to its red carpet premiere in LA. The entire cast was there, including Robert Pattinson, Zoë Kravitz, Paul Dano, Jeffrey Wright, Colin Ferell, and more! How lucky was I that the first big movie event I got to attend right after the pandemic was this premiere? The autograph hound in me was salivating seeing all the incredible stars in person. I practically crumpled the movie posters I brought with me out of sheer excitement!
There's no denying that this cast is amazing, but the one actor I was most nervous about was Robert Pattinson. The guy had huge shoes to fill! Bale, Affleck, heck, you can even throw Clooney into the mix too! There have been a lot of great Batmans over the years so when they announced that Pattinson would be playing the role, the world had mixed reactions. I myself didn't think he was a good fit, especially after his Twilight fiasco. But that premiere night proved me wrong!
Just by seeing him from afar, I could tell that he had the right vibe and essence to be a great Bruce Wayne. And when I asked him for his autograph, he was pretty nice about it too! Of course, I had to wait to see the actual film to get my final verdict. But overall, most of my concerns flew out the window when I met the guy in person. And lo behold, he was also incredible in the movie too! I liked his chemistry with Zoë Kravitz! They can easily trump Bale and Ann Hathaway as the best Batman and Catwoman duo of our time.
I have to say, Paul Dano's Riddler is also pretty riveting. I've always known the guy was incredible and I'm so glad he finally got his big superhero movie break! I've no doubt he'd be an absolute legend in the role. Jim Carey was incredible in it back in the day, but now, it's all about Dano's Riddler!
To say that the new Batman movie impressed me is an understatement. It was awesome! I still can't say that it can rival any of the "Dark Knight" films but it's definitely up there! For the first time ever, more than the autographs I received, I'm more excited about the new movies ahead!
