It really is so strange that when an actor you've known as a certain character for so long switches gears. It's like you're caught off guard and it's almost uncomfortable! Have you ever felt that with any of your favorite stars? I did with Daniel Radcliffe when he starred in the movie, "Imperium."
At such a young age, Daniel Radcliffe instantly became a screen icon for his years-long portrayal as "Harry Potter." He was perfect for the role and it still boggles my mind that he was never nominated for an Academy Award for his performance. Try as any actor might in the future, no one will ever be as good as a "Harry Potter" as Radcliffe. He was the ultimate children's hero, nerd underdog, and everyone's favorite lovable wizard.
So you could imagine the shock everyone felt when he suddenly starred as an FB agent who posed as a white supremacist. From adorable wizard to that? All of us fans experience whiplash! It was too sudden and shocking to see, but riveting nonetheless. Like, we understand that he's no longer "Harry Potter" and all but this sort of role was so beyond whatever related to that magical movie franchise that it's simply unbelievable! However, when I watched it myself, I saw just how talented Radcliffe is as a performer. While the "Harry Potter" films gave him the attention and the fans, hopefully, this movie will give him recognition as a bonafide actor!
Admittedly, I watched the movie multiple times and became a devoted fan of it and Radcliffe again. It even came to the point that I asked my friend, who worked in Hollywood, to get me a poster of the movie to hang one in my place. Weeks passed before he said he could get me one. And a month later, he called me back with the best news ever! Not only will he give me an authentic poster of "Imperium," but it's also signed by the cast of the movie. Just that thought of having an autographed piece from Daniel Radcliffe had me so excited, I couldn't sleep until I got it!
And so, the big day came. I even took some time off work so I can receive the package myself. To my surprise, it was heavier than I expected. "Is this thing framed? Wow, my friend went all out!" I thought as I opened the package. To my utter shock, it wasn't just one poster, it was a whole stack of it! None of them were framed, which was a bit of a letdown, but all were in mint condition! I immediately called my friend to ask how the hell did this many autographed posters and his explanation floored me!
He said that the posters were part of what would have been a prize at a gala event that was for some charity (he forgot which one). But when the event got canceled, he had to keep all of the posters signed by most of the movie's cast. Luckily, he remembered my simple request and figured I wouldn't mind keeping all of it. I asked him if it was okay if I'd sell some of these since I only really needed two—one to hang on my wall and another to keep in a safe—and he told me to go for it. So, here we are!
To this day, I still can't disassociate Daniel Radcliffe as from his days as "Harry Potter" but it's films like "Imperium" that remind me how much of a talented actor and a grown-up he already is! And I'm still a huge fan nonetheless!
Please note: Our inventory is limited as we may have only received a few posters in total. Most of our items are obtained from film premieres, studios, and from autographed hounds such as the one in the story above.
