The Man With The "Million Dollar Arm"

Disney really is all about inspiring movies. From their animated classics to their live-action films, they never fail to tug at your heartstrings and inspire a good sense of hope. One of their underrated gems is "Million Dollar Arm," starring a guy that clearly looks like a million bucks himself, Jon Hamm.

Playing a sports agent who travels all the way to India to find and form the next best baseball team, it's certainly a role that's far from what this actor has been known for. Yet he's great in the movie, with a gentle performance that offers a peek into a new side of the "mad man." When I met him in person at the premiere for "Million Dollar Arm" though, I discovered that he's a lot more like his movie character than the womanizing TV persona he's become known for.

Kind, warm, and personable, Jon Hamm was a rare gem among Hollywood celebrities. As a seasoned autograph hound, I've met my fair share of A-list stars and let me tell you: a lot of them have egos. Many of them didn't openly express their superiority, but you can subtly tell just how much they think (too) highly of themselves. But with Jon Hamm? A handsome actor with great talent and massive star-quality? He was humility personified. Well, perhaps that's a bit of a stretch. However, his gentle personality was so refreshing compared to the other famous people I've met so far.

This isn't to say that the other cast members of "Million Dollar Arm", who I also met and got autographs from, were any less than the lead star. Lake Bell, for instance, had as beautiful of a personality as her face. She, too, was very personable and didn't have any qualms of signing my movie posters. The (late) great Bill Paxton, on the other hand, also seemed humble. I don't know why or how, but I could tell that the smiles he gave us fans were sincere. We really lost a great man when he sadly passed away.

Jon Hamm, Lake Bell, Bill Paxton, and more. These are the types of nice and extremely talented actors that lives up to the Disney film legacy. I'm sure more and more people will discover the underrated gem that is "Million Dollar Arm."
