My "Old Guard" in Hollywood

by Chase Ray

Connections really can get you what you want! I don't mean to sound conniving and manipulative but facts are facts! in this world when you have connections, it's easy to get what you want. I'm so grateful that many of my best friends grew up to become part of the entertainment industry. Through them, I'm able to get a lot of autographs.

Just recently, one of my best friends since high school who now works as an AD in a big studio got Charlize Theron to sign something for me. Yep, you read that right! Academy-award winning actress Charlize Theron! I almost can't believe it myself! When I saw that he was able to get her autograph, I felt so proud of him! The item in question is the poster of one of her latest films, "The Old Guard." It's another of her badass flicks that I simply can't get enough of!

The film also stars Matthias Schoenaerts, Kiki Layne, and Chiwetel Ejiofor. They, too, signed my poster as well. Actually, they all signed multiple posters! That's how much of a big shot my best friend is! To this day I still can't believe he was able to do it! I'm not entirely sure if he worked on the movie or not but I think he did. He didn't divulge a lot of details about how he got their autographs. He only told me that it was just luck that he was, at some point in time, in the same room with all the cast members of "The Old Guard."

He even shared further how Charlize was intimidating to ask for an autograph for. Make no mistake, he said she was cool and friendly and all, but to hound for her autograph is a different story entirely. He told me that it took him approximately the entire day to work up the courage to ask her. Damn! That must have been nerve-wracking! Chiwetel Ejiofor, on the other hand, was a lot more approachable. He signed all the posters without any complaints.

I eventually got my posters through FedEx since we can't meet face-to-face. Seeing all of it in person, I was so shocked that he actually did it! He already told me beforehand but there was some doubt at the back of my mind! I really thought he was just pulling my leg about that! But he wasn't! Damn! My best friend is amazing!

So, what's the moral of this story? Basically, always cherish whatever friends you have! You never know how really lucky you are to know them! Who knows? Someday, they just might be your ticket to Tinsel Town!

Please note: Our inventory is limited as we may have only received a few posters in total. Most of our items are obtained from film premieres, studios, and from autographed hounds such as the one in the story above.
