Memories of "Friday Night Dinner" in London

Do you guys remember the saying, "You don't know what you have until it's gone" or something like that? Well, I just recently understood what it meant! Back when I was working in London, my best buddy there was obsessed with a sitcom called "Friday Night Dinner" and he often hounded me to watch it. I didn't back then, but now, I love it!

"You can still watch it right? So what's wrong?" is probably what y'all are thinking! Well, for one thing, the show only airs on Channel 4 of British TV which, as you've probably already guessed, we don't have here in the States! And as much as I can stream it online, there's no replacing watching it on a large-screened TV. But anyways, it's not the show, per se, that I've "lost." It's the fact that I met the stars of the show at one point when I was in London and I didn't get their autographs!

It was during a live meetup even with fans of the show. The four main leads—Simon Bird, Tom Rosenthal, Tamsin Greig, and Paul Ritter—some of which were nominated for BAFTAs for their incredible performances, were there. At the time, I still wasn't a fan but my Londoner best friend was obsessed with it. He dragged me along to help get their autographs onto his posters that he got from another megafan of the series. I honestly didn't care much back then and even though I was meeting celebrities (and I was an autograph hound myself) since I wasn't familiar with them at the time, I didn't feel excited.

It was only then when I got back to the US and got bored with what to do that I started seriously watching the show and found it hilarious. With every season I streamed, I became a bigger fan. It just got better every single season! Before I knew it, I was hooked! I would Zoom call with my buddy from London from time to time and we'd talk about the show non-stop! How I wish I was like this when I was still over there!

What even got me even more attached was the fact that the great Paul Ritter passed away recently. It made me watch everything all over again and though I still laughed, I can't deny I felt a little bit of sadness watching the actor at his finest. And it was then when I realized that I should have gotten his autograph back then!

However, as luck would have it, my friend told me he was willing to give me a few of his extra copies since he had a lot. I honestly don't remember how many posters we got signed back then, but all I remember was that there were enough to require two people to get them signed. And so, after a few weeks, I finally got a couple of posters with the "Friday Night Dinner" cast's autographs. And yes, including those of the late great Paul Ritter's.

The moral of the story: when you're friend tells you to check something out, do so seriously! You never know how much you'll end up licking it yourself in the future. Let's just hope yours won't be paved with regrets like mine was!

Please note: Our inventory is limited as we may have only received a few posters in total. Most of our items are obtained from film premieres, studios, and from autographed hounds such as the one in the story above.
