This might sound weird, but as a passionate Star Wars fan, I owe a lot to Chuckie. Yes, the scary-ass doll that kills people with a knife. Why people still buy that thing, I'll never know, but if it wasn't for that menacing, demonic toy, I wouldn't have met Luke Skywalker himself!
As a journalist, I was able to meet the cast during their press junket for the film. I've longed to be assigned to cover Star Wars-related events, but my boss may have it out for me, which is why I get these random movies. Little does that a-hole know, I use every mundane assignment he gives me to my advantage as an autograph hound. Thanks to my job, I'm able to get stars—sometimes even directors—to sign my posters. And so I did with this cast. Aubrey Plaza, Bryan Tyree Henry, and Gabriel Bateman all signed the posters. But the best part was definitely meeting Mark Hamill.
I went on full geek-mode meeting Skywalker himself. And when I asked him to sign the "Child's Play" posters, I was kicking myself for not bringing my lightsaber for him to sign as well. I was afraid he might get creeped out or annoyed by it, but having met him then, I realized that he's as big a geek as the rest of us. Even when I mentioned his work as the Joker during the interview, he answered my question in that legendary voice. Now that had me almost peeing my pants in excitement!
So thank you, Chuckie. Because of you and your now countless movies, I was able to meed my favorite person in the whole wide world. Now please don't kill me!
