You'd think that Aerosmith will be the last band ever associated with the holidays, but they are to me. And this comes from a guy whose family—and I mean all of us—are fans of the band and play their music during Christmas! In my heart, all Aerosmith songs are Christmas carols.
But I say that as well because one year, also during the holiday season, I did actually met them. I saw, in person, the legends Steven Tyler, Joe Perry, Brad Whitford, Joey Kramer, Tom Hamilton. And it was during Christmastime. So, of course, they have a special place in my heart. Especially when I celebrate this time of the year.
Now, how did that happen? Well, I was working part-time for a guy who sells Christmas trees during this season. One of my good friends, who's an avid collector of memorabilia, gave me a few posters of the band's "Toys in the Attic" album cover as his present. Little did I know, that on that same day, I will meet the actual band.
The store was near the edge of our town that was just near a major city. Aerosmith had a concert there that month but I couldn't afford to get tickets for me and my family. However, one afternoon, suddenly a bus had to go on over to the side cause their vehicle broke down. Since I knew a thing or two about auto-mechanics, I helped out a little bit but I didn't necessarily solve the problem. I did, however, to my credit, make the real mechanic's job easier. And so as a thank you, he passengers of the said bus went down to meet me. And who were they? Aerosmith!
I was so blown away! These were my and my family's idols. I listen to their music every day! To see them in person was phenomenal. And even better? They signed my posters. Thank goodness I still remembered I had them when I met them. I was so flabbergasted, I thought I'd forget everything, even my own name! But the absolute best part was that they actually gave me tickets to their concert. I took my friend and my parents and we had a blast!
I'll never forget that Christmas! Because of Aerosmith's unbelievable generosity—as well as my few mechanic skills—it was the best that I and my family will forever remember!
