Remember when Hollywood was dominated by tough men? The likes of Clint Eastwood, Bruce Lee, Robert DeNiro, Al Pacino, and more? It was a time when going to the movies was like going to Mount Olympus, and these stars were the Gods who ruled there? Yep, those were the days! But who's to say those days are long gone?
In my humble opinion, those sorts of stars are still on the big screen today. It's just, instead of using guns and talking in Italian accents, they're using their fists and are all jacked! While this may sound like a sacrilegious comment to cinephiles out there, I'll just go outright and say it: Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham are now those Hollywood tough guys! What? Just because you may not like the "Fast & Furious" franchise doesn't mean it's not cinema. Though Martin Scorcese will disagree with me on that...
Still, these guys are just as tough and intimidating as the legends that came before them. And I won't be surprised that in a few decades or so from now, they'll be seen as similarly legendary as well. Fortunately, I got their autographs for when that happens! I went to the premiere of their latest film together, "Fast & Furious: Hobbs and Shaw" and they were fantastic. I gotta say, Statham is a lucky devil with such a hot wife. I wish Rosie Huntington-Whitely will star in one "Fast & Furious" movie someday. As a straight man, I want my eye candy too!
Meanwhile, Dwayne Johnson is a monument of a man. Damn! He's tall and jacked and everything! I bet he got his suit custom-made too! But despite all the intimidation he brings, he's a pretty stand-up guy. They both are! They signed my posters, as well as my brothers, even though they were hella busy meeting fans that night.
I'm sure prissy film critics will trash their movies like always. But as a movie-lover myself, I gotta say that "Fast & Furious: Hobbs and Shaw" is a great film. It's worth every cent of your money, I guarantee it!
