Do you know what I realized during quarantine? That celebrities are far nice when they're just at home. Maybe it's because they have more free time to relax? They're not going from one place to another? I don't know! But actually asking autographs from celebrities—online, mind you!—I feel was a lot easier than doing so in red carpet premieres.
Now, I know what you're thinking: there's a pandemic going on, why are you focusing on getting celebrities autographs instead of staying healthy? First of all, I always stay home and only go out when I really need to. And when I do go out, I always wear my mask. So as far as I'm concerned, as long as I'm inside my own home, I can do whatever I want! That includes hounding for autographs. One of the last ones I did was to get my copies of the poster for the Disney/Pixar movie, "Soul," signed.
To my complete and utter shock, it was actually easy to do! All I did was mail the posters to the cast members of the film and they signed them without any problem at all. And let me tell you, this cast has some heavyweights: Jamie Foxx, Tina Fey, and Graham Norton, among others! The fact that I got their autographs during this pandemic is bonkers to me! But then, they had the time, I had the time, so I figured, why not?
Spanning a couple of months, the fastest I got was from the main lead himself, Jamie Foxx. I think it only took about one-and-a-half weeks in total from when I sent him the request, mailed the posters, and then I got them back all signed. Tina Fey was also kind enough to sign them too. She even included a thank you note for my support which was sweet! I wish more celebrities did that too! Heck, I wish they did that in-person during red carpet events too!
The ones that I was most nervous about were the cast members from the UK, namely Graham Norton and Richard Ayoade. I was particularly nervous for the former since he is a legendary talk show host who has interviewed virtually every big-named celebrity under the sun! How the heck was I ever going to get him to sign my posters without actually being there!? After emailing partially everyone on his staff, I finally got the go-signal to send my posters and wait for him to sign. They didn't 100% guarantee he'd do it though so I was still anxious.
After about a month, I finally got the email saying he did sign them! Not only that, but they also informed me that they send the posters to Richard Aoyaede too and got him to sign them as well! Man, I was overjoyed! I honestly didn't think they'd do it! Especially not Graham Norton! This was the first time I ever got British celebrities to sign something. I was over the moon! I waited another couple of weeks before I got the posters back and finally realizes they really did do it! They really signed them!
So, what's the moral of the story? You can still continue what you love doing even when you have to stay at home. Who knows? The people you'd be interacting with might be a lot nicer when they're just at home too!
Please note: Our inventory is limited as we may have only received a few posters in total. Most of our items are obtained from film premieres, studios, and from autographed hounds such as the one in the story above.
