The value of friendship is one of the most important lessons I've learned watching Disney movies growing up. Those classic animated films really impacted me that much! And incidentally, it's through friendship that I was able to get the autographs of some of the "descendants" of Disney's most famous villains.
One of my closest friends in the world happens to be an awesome costume designer for Disney's "Descendants" franchise. It's I'm a huge fan of the movies, I asked her if she could get the cast to sign copies of the movie poster for "Descendants 3." I actually kinda just asked her on a whim because I wasn't sure just how close she was with the actors. But to my surprise, she was eventually able to do it! To this day, these signed posters stand as proof of the power of our friendship!
My friend even told me how she did it. It was during one of their more relaxed days on set. Since she was part of the team in charge of the costumes, she was running left and right getting everybody to look on point for the shots. And if you've seen any of the "Descendants" movies, you know that their costumes are always so lit! I really commend her for her talent and creativity. So proud! Anyway, It was around their lunch break that her own friend from the art department finally got her a few copies of the movie's poster. At the time, since they were still filming, the posters hadn't come out yet.
It was perfect timing too because everyone, including the cast, was on break. So one by one, she approached Dove Cameron, Cameron Boyce, Sofia Carson, Booboo Stewart, Mitchell Hope, Thomas Doherty, and more, asking them to sign the posters. She told me that it was a good thing that, since this was already their second time working together (she started doing the costumes for "Descendants 2"), she was pretty chummy with most of the cast. She also told me that among those she approached, Sofia Carson and Cameron Boyce (rest in peace!) were the nicest ones!
I remember her smiling and gushing at how, on that day, when she got most of the cast to sign the posters, she realized just how lucky she was to have worked on the film. I mean, working as a costume designer for a Disney film? That's the dream right there! She even thanked me for asking her to do it! Can you believe that? I should be the one grateful now that I have all these amazing autographs! And yet she ended up thanking me? She really is a gem!
It was after she did this request that our friendship grew even stronger. Perhaps this really is the true magic of Disney, isn't it?
