Many people have asked me how I got my start as an autograph hound. But to be completely honest, it's a bit of an embarrassing story. While other hounds out there have all these amazing origin stories, mine touched on a rather personal subject that I don't often discuss: my puberty.
I'm around the same age as the principal cast of Harry Potter. So I literally grew up with them. And when Harry Potter was starting to feel all sorts of things for the female characters, I was beginning to feel those same feelings for him. None more so than when I watched "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire." Say what you will about Daniel Radcliffe, there's no denying he's a handsome lad. And I first noticed that in this movie. Suddenly, I wasn't just fantasizing bout being his friend, but being something more.
I don't know why there was something about Radcliffe and how he performed in that film that got me feeling some sort of way. Granted, I've met my new "monthly friend" then yet, so I was so perplexed by what I was feeling. When I talked to my mom about it, she told me that I was finally having my first crush. And for a while, it was Daniel Radcliffe who had my heart.
When the next film was due to come out, I begged my parents to bring me to the movie premiere. My father, being the autograph hound that he is (it's in the family!) agreed and so off we went to Hollywood. I saw all of them in person. Emma Watson, Rupert Grint, Robert Pattinson, etc.
All of them signed my and my dad's posters too. But when I finally saw Daniel Radcliffe in the flesh, my knees literally weakened! I think I even fell a bit, but my dad was too busy to notice. I picked and composed myself right before he went up to me. He signed my posters gave me a peck on the cheek, and thus, my sexuality was awakened!
And so, that's the story of the origin of autograph-hounding, as well as my sexual awakening. I hope you enjoyed that awkwardly personal tale!
