You gotta hand it to Billie Eilish. For an artist so young, she's really gotten her head in the game. Or at least, she's so well at making it seem that way. Having met her in person in of her gigs, I found her to be an excellent artist. She's so fresh and cool, yet so nonchalant about it at the same time.
I met her at a festival she was headlining. Of course, she was one of the hottest acts in the event. "bad guy" had just been released at the time, so she was basically the most popular artist in there. Most of the Gen Z kids who were there were there just for her. Some even dressed up like her. They colored their hair, wore baggy clothes, and copied practically everything about the singer's unique aesthetic. It was as if she started a new craze. And in many ways, she did!
And truly enough, her performance that night was one of the best. She had most of her fans, myself included, singing along with her, especially during "bad guy." I remember me and my girlfriends giggling when we'd all repeat the "duh!" part of the track. Everyone in the venue all collectively said it with her and it was amazing. Her reach was unbelievable. And mind you, she was just 17 at this time.
After the show, our clique decided to still hang out a bit. The festival had some carnival-like booths and rides so we decided to have some fun on them. And this was practically late at night already. The younger kids had already gone home so we and my fellow young millennials had the place all to ourselves. But you know who else had the place all to herself? That's right, Billie Eilish!
We approached her at one point to ask for her autograph. I and my friends bought a couple of posters of her at one of the merch tables. Though it was a bit weird for us twenty-somethings to be asking the autograph of a teenager. It's usually the other way around, isn't it? Well, anyways. Billie Eilish was worth it. She wasn't your ordinary teenager and her autograph will be valuable one day. We all knew that.
We also all knew that she was cool. She was cool onstage and she was cool enough to sign our posters. And so now, here they are. There's no other way but up for Billie Eilish, so these signed posters will likely be worth more in the future!
